How does a Depeche mode sounds like??
You sound like you understand modes. Each mode has a different shape. I can play, lets say the Phrygian mode to a jam track with the root on the low E string. I can plug in the mode, (in any key), and it sounds great! BUT, HOW DO YOU MOVE UP AND DOWN THE NECK WITH THE MODE??? Like you can do with the pentatonic scale? It appears that you can only play the modes is one small area on the guitar. Thanks….

waltribeiro on youtube has, What I Feel the best explanation of Modes..he uses a Chalk board to show how it all works…there are 4 parts to his video and its called “Music modes explained) 1 of 4 parts. highly recommend…His explanation allowed me to understand modes! Check it out!
To fully understand Modes..First..you have to know your Major scales (notes. #s, flats).Then you have to know the names of the 7 modes in the order they come in 1. C Ionian 2. D Dorian 3. E Phrygian 4. F Lydian 5. G Mixolydian 6. A Aeolian 7. B Locrian.Once you know these things this will all make sense. Example: If want a lydian mode from the Cmaj scale Lydian = 4th degree ( meaning the 4th mode…thats #4 Lydian) So That would be F Lydian working off the C major scale from F to F (FGABCDEF)
