Your guitar needs tuning,That would be a good start before instruction. You don’t need perfect pitch to hear that

tuning it isn’t the problem. keeping it in tune is a whole nother story.

if you play an open note on the low E, that would be the root note, then if you play a note on the twelth fret of the low E, that would be an octave up, because it is the same note but of a higher pitch. This works in alot of other different ways, but don’t let it confuse you :) That means you have to tune your thinner string to the twelth fret of the low E, I think, I havn’t got a twelve, but I think I get the tuning :)

WHAT kind of tuner do i need to buy to tune my future 12 string guitar? also, when i tune it how do i get the low e string an octave higher?

What does “an octave higher” mean? I´m not that great on musical theory so.Am I supposed to tune the thick E string for example to an E, and the thinner string a whole scale up?

thanks this is very useful. just one question: what gauge do you use on this guitar? I guess that down-tuning has its limits depending on the gauge, so I was wondering what’s yours…

So if the top 2 strings go out of tune you try to avoid hitting them. OK.
So if the whole guitar is out I’ll just not play it huh.
I came here expecting you to say something great like using 2 different calibrations for each. I got more info from the great Tommy Tedesco who simply stamped the body on the floor to open up the tuning further! Stick to chopping wood Jack.

Is the tuning the same with 6 strings guitar? I bought a stagg 12 strings guitar for 170Euro. I have trouble with the G string (The thin one). I am trying to tune it , but the string broke before it gets to F#.

    What can I do?
